The Full Story
We are team 3 Best Spuds! An Irish Mongol Rally team taking back in the 2021 Mongol Rally. 2 brothers from Cork and a lad from Wexford all with farming backgrounds and only limited mechanical experience!
We plan on taking our 21 year old Micra across nearly 20,000 km of road, track desert, mountains, river and 28 countries on the adventure of a life time while raising money for some great causes.
The rules are simple:
1. The chosen car must be small and not suitable for the journey ahead, the older the better.
2. We're completely on our own, no backup, no bailouts, no nothing, just us!
3. Charity. We aim to raise as much as we can for three amazing charities!
You can follow the planning, preparation and rally at @team_3BestSpuds on Instagram and Facebook
Your much appreciated donations will help support three great charities:
- The Irish Cancer Society: https://www.cancer.ie/
- Marymount Hospice: https://www.marymount.ie/
- Cool earth: https://www.coolearth.org/
Along with ensuring we can complete the journey
Any donation of any size if much appreciated, and we hope you can follow the trip on our social media platforms.

Who your donations will help
The Irish Cancer Society was founded on October 10, 1963 as Conquer Cancer Campaign by Austin Darragh, a general practitioner, and is 94% financed by voluntary contributions from the public. It is the largest voluntary funder of cancer research in Ireland. The four strategic goals of the Society's current strategy statement surround improving the lives of those affected by cancer, reducing the risk of cancer, influencing public policy on cancer and leading excellent collaborative research. The Society is governed by a Board of Directors composed of leading medical, scientific and business persons. The Board is also advised by two expert committees in medical and financial matters
Marymount University Hospital & Hospice (Marymount) provides specialist palliative care services and services to care for dependent older people. We are located within a state-of-the-art facility providing specialised and expert care to a population base of 560,000 people.
An independent voluntary hospital governed by a voluntary Board of Directors, Marymount works closely with the statutory health services, is a section 39 organisation under the Health Act 2004 and a registered charity.
Its origins date back to 1870 with its foundation by the Religious Sisters of Charity in Cork. The original hospital was built on the north side of the city on Wellington Road. The service relocated in 2011 to purpose-built, modern, high-quality facilities in Curraheen, Cork.
As the specialist palliative care service for Cork city and county, Marymount Hospice serves as a centre for co-ordinating the delivery of palliative care services across all care settings in Cork. Our services include a 44-bed in-patient unit, a day care service (day hospice), an out-patient department, community-based services and bereavement and family support services. For older people, Marymount Hospital provides long-term care, respite and palliative care support services.

While we are currently running a Go Fund Me page to generate donations for the charities, we are also seeking sponsorship from businesses to help ensure we complete the trip and to ensure that the charities receive the complete amount of donations
We have a number of sponsorship options to choose from to fit different budgets as shown on the next page
Your sponsorship will cover many of the costs involved in the preparation stages as well as the actual trip itself.
What will you get in return?
As this is a global event, your brand will receive international exposure via official organisation publications, our dedicated social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram which have a growing following week on week, through radio interviews and local paper publications and on both websites of Marymount and The Irish Cancer Society along with the websites/social media pages of other sponsors.
For each sponsor we will make an individual dedicated appreciation post on our team social media accounts as well as being officially associated with the team through the Adventurists official website.
We will be taking pictures of every step of the journey as we travel across Europe, Turkey, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Mongolia! These pictures will have some of the most amazing backgrounds which will feature your brand name/logo and make some great content for your websites/Social Media account.
